EVEL spaceframes are 3-dimentional steel frame structures constructed from joints and members of type MERO.The system is comprised of circular tube steel members and spherical solid steel joints.The tubes are connected to the joints by means of cones welded to tube ends.A bolt is placed through the cone nd screwed to the joint by means of a spanner sleeve.Compression in the tube is transfered into the joint by direct bearing through the cone and spanner sleeve on the milled face of the joint.The purpose of the milled joint faces is to achieve a uniform and safe compressive load path from the tube to the joint.Tension in the tube is transfered into the joint by tension through the cone and bolt.This system characterizes the MERO system and is a result of several years of research and applied technology
